Field stripping your Glock pistol for normal cleaning or inspection consists of dismantling it into its main component parts (slide, barrel, recoil spring assembly, receiver & magazine). It comes apart in seconds. No special Glock tools are needed.

Glock pistols are stripped into their component parts in the following order: 1) Remove Magazine, 2) Verify Gun Is Unloaded, 3) Depress Trigger, 4) Remove Slide and 5) Remove Barrel. The following pictures show the process.
The above pictures and instructions were taken from the Glock Owner’s Manual 2011 Glock Safe Action Pistols All Models.
Subject: Need To Remove Slide Cover Plate
No, it wasn’t helpful. I need to remove the cover plate without messing it up and it didn’t explain how to do it.
Response – Ed,
You were on the wrong page. Slide cover plate removal can be found here.
Thank you, it’s easy once you read the right instructions.
