IS IT WORTH INSTALLING A 3.5 LB CONNECTOR IN A GLOCK?
If you want a smoother and easier trigger pull, the answer is yes. The trigger pull on my Glock 19with the factory Glock connector was fairly smooth (presumably because I had shot over 7,000 rounds through it) but it still had a noticable trigger break. At the trigger break I still had to pull a little harder to fire the gun. After I polished and installed the new 3.5 pound connector into my Glock 19 I find that the trigger break has all but disappeared. My trigger pull is very smooth. That “last resistance” of the trigger pull is gone.

When you first look at the Glock 3.5 LB connector and compare it with the factory connector in the Glock you would think that they are exactly the same. They look identical. But if you take a closer look and measure the dimensions of each connector you will begin to see the differences (see above). The mechanics and science behind why the 3.5 pound connector reduces the trigger pull is not obvious and would take some studying to discover. I don’t have that much time.

NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHAT THAT LITTLE HOOK ON THE TOP OF EVERY GLOCK CONNECTOR IS FOR. IT’S THE ONLY CONNECTOR PART THAT STICKS UP ABOVE THE POLYMER FRAME, AND THE SLIDE PLATE HAS A NOTCH CUT OUT FOR IT. WHAT DOES THIS LITTLE HOOK DO, WHY IS IT THERE AND WHAT IS IT CALLED. I could be wrong but I wouldn’t think it has a special name and that it is simply a part of the connector.
I don’t of the notch you refer to in the “slide plate”.
But I think the uppermost part of the connector (the part sticking up above the frame) depresses the firing pin safety (the spring loaded button in the slide) when you pull the trigger.
In other words, it part of the Glock Safety System. When it contacts and depressed the firing pin safety it frees up the firing pin allowing it to come forward.
That’s my guess anyway.

Subject: Glock 3.5 Pound Connector
Is it exactly 3.5 pound trigger pull by installing the connector? i seen a few videos on youtube that shows its closer to 4lb. also would it make that big of a difference to invest in a titanium firing pin and other items that would make the pull on the trigger alot smoother. also do you think its a good idea to install the connector on a handgun thats used mostly for personal protection?

I doubt that it’s exactly 3.5 pounds but I don’t have the weights to measure it with. I assume it’s an approximation or an “average” trigger pull.
I have looked at the titanium firing pin and other items associated with trigger pull that you are referring to, but I question how much difference they will actually make. I don’t really know. After installing the 3.5 connector and polishing my trigger I doubt that I would be able to tell any difference of replacing additional parts. I don’t think my finger is that sensitive. For me it is smooth enough.
My friend did the same mods to this Glock 17. While shooting at the range, a few of his shots fired off target because the gun went off when he didn’t expect it to. He was pulling the trigger at the time but did not know where the trigger break point of discharge was. He was not used to it being so light and smooth.
As far as installing the connector on a gun used for personal protection, my thoughts are ..
If I carried my Glock 19 all the time and relied on it for personal protection I am not sure if I would make the modification. In my way of thinking, reducing the trigger pull and smoothing out the trigger helps with target practice and shooting when you are using the sights of the gun and have time to pull the trigger slowly and deliberately. In a self defense scenario shooting, I would think that I would most likely point shoot without using the sights and I would be so excited that the little bit of trigger pull difference would not make any difference to me.
The factory Glock trigger is probably a little bit safer when it comes to accidental trigger pulls, but you still have to pull the trigger for the gun to go off.
I’m not really sure, but I have seen somewhere that the police don’t allow their officers to modify their guns. They must have good reasons.
The best thing to do may be to buy one and try it for yourself and make your own determinations. They are cheap enough and are easy to install. If you don’t like it and are afraid that it makes the gun more dangerous to accidental discharges, it’s a simple matter to reinstall the original factory connector.
