The “texture” on the frame of the new Glocks is a series of raised, tapered points called a “polymids”. This provides for a more positive gripping surface to keep the gun fast in your hand.

Glock RTF Rough Textured Frame - Good or Bad?

There is much debate whether this RTF is a benefit or a detriment to the 4th generation of Glock guns.

Glock RTF is Good

  1. Easy to grip when wet from rain or sweat.

  2. Provides a more secure grip.

  3. Makes it easy to grip with gloves on.

  4. More comfortable and secure grip throughout any shooting situations.

Glock RTF is Bad

  1. The sandpaper-like feel of Glocks new "Rough Texture Frame" is not for everyone.

  2. May not be suitable for concealed carry if rough texture of grip rubs up against your skin.

  3. RTF grips that are too rough may hurt the hand from recoil

  4. The texture is hard and sharp and may dig into your skin.
