Glock Magazines seem to last forever. The only reason you would need to disassemble one would be to clean it or replace the magazine spring. Disassembly is fast and easy (once you know what you are doing). Removing the magazine base plate (or floor plate) is the hardest part of the disassembly process. It's not really hard. You just have to do it once to know how much force to use and how to manipulate the punch. The entire disassembly of the magazine can be done in less than a minute. Here are the steps to follow.

Step 1 - Required Tools
The only tool needed is a Glock Armorers Tool 3/32 Punch or punch.

Step 2 - Insert The Punch
Push the punch against the little tab in the hole on the bottom of the base plate. Push it all the way down. You might have to use a little force. You may hear a little snap as you dislodge the hidden magazine floor plate insert. Don't worry you didn't break it.

Step 3 - Squeeze Mag. Body Sides
The magazine has two tabs on either sides of the opening that holds the base in place. You have to squeeze the sides of the magazine body to release the tabs to allow you to slide off the base plate.

Step 4 - Push Punch Forward
This is the direction that you have to push/pull the punch to remove the base plate.

Step 4a - Squeeze & Push
While squeezing the sides as shown, use force and leverage to dislodge the base plate from the magazine body. You will feel and hear it's release.

Step 5 - Base Plate Releases
This picture shows the magazine base plate dislodged from the magazine body.

Step 6 - Remove The Bottom Plate
Place you thumb over the top of the base plate and slide it off.

Step 6a - Capture The Magazine Spring
Your thumb will contain and capture the magazine spring and prevent it from flying out.

Step 7 - Examine & Clean The Spring
Remove the follower from the spring. Clean the spring with a tooth brush and paper towels. Use care not to stretch or deform the spring.

Cleaning Your Glock Magazine

Inspect and clean all part. I used Windex, paper towels, Q-tips and a toothbrush to remove the dirt and crud, then I cleaned them with soapy water followed by rinsing with clean water. Thoroughly dry all parts. Do not oil or lubricate the parts. Oil will attract and retain dirt and particles. Reassemble in the reverse order indicated above.
