Installation Instructions

PREPARATIONS
Tools needed:
Flashlight, sandpaper, small flat edge screwdriver

Step 1: REMOVE THE SLIDE & MAGAZINE
Remove the slide and the magazine from the Glock pistol.

Step 2: SANDING SHARP CORNERS
The corners of your new catch may have sharp corners and may hurt when you depress the magazine release button. Use some fine grit sandpaper to sand them down. Don't sand too much.

Step 3: SANDED EDGES & CORNERS
Picture showing the ridged texture of the magazine release button after sanding of the corners and edges.

Step 4: RELEASE THE SPRING
Identify the magazine release spring looking down from the top of the receiver. It's the silver looking metal strip contained inside an elongate V channel in the plastic.

To remove the old magazine catch you have to first dislodge the magazine release spring from the little pocket that it is in. Refer the pictures in Step 6.

With a small flat head screw driver move the spring to the right, then twist the screw driver a little bit to get beneath the spring and release it from it's little notch. It will come forward and pop out of the catch.

You can now push on the mag release button and it will slide out the right side of the receiver.

Step 5: EXTENDED VERSES FACTORY STOCK
This picture shows the difference in length between the extended magazine catch and the factor stock magazine catch.

Step 5a: EXTENDED VERSES FACTORY STOCK
This picture shows no difference in height between the extended magazine catch and the factor stock magazine catch.

Step 6: SPRING SLOT
This picture shows the slot on the magazine catch that the spring goes into.

Step 6a: SPRING POCKET
This picture shows the pocket on the magazine catch that the spring goes into. To remove the spring from this pocket the spring must be forced to the right, then up and out of the adjacent slot.

Step 7: INSTALL NEW EXTENDED MAG CATCH
Insert the blade of a screw driver between the receiver frame and the magazine release spring, then insert and position the new extended mag catch as shown. Pry the spring away from the frame while pushing the mag catch behind it.

Step 8: COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION
This picture shows the new extended magazine catch pushed into position behind the spring and the screw driver has been removed. To complete the installation push the catch in all the way until you hear the spring snap into the slot (and pocket). The extended magazine catch is now installed.

Step 9: INSTALLATION COMPLETED
The extended magazine catch is now installed. Push the button in a few times and look down from the top of the receiver to make sure it is functioning properly. Insert a magazine and test.

IS IT WORTH INSTALLING THE GLOCK EXTENDED MAGAZINE RELEASE?

DEFINITELY. The extended magazine release makes releasing the magazine really easy. No more fumbling to find the release button. It even feels like you don't have to press as hard to release the magazine. You can even release the magazine with one hand. One of the best Glock improvements parts for the money (under $4).

March 14, 2012
Need a extended magazine of 120 bullets for my glock 19....please advise price and availability...
thanks tarzai

Response - Tarzia,

Sorry, but this website doesn't sell anything.

Besides, I have never heard of anything like an extended magazine for a Glock 19 that holds 120 rounds of ammunition.
